Tour Description

For visitors to the Island of Oahu, there is no shortage of activities to participate in and sights to see. Your vacation time is important; why waste it? If you value your time and want to cover as much as possible but don’t have too much time, we have an excellent tour for you. Our Pearl Harbor Visitor Center and Oahu Circle Island Tour is perfect for those wanting to cover as much of Oahu as possible in less time. Now, such a large tour in a bus full of 20-60 people can become very uncomfortable. Our private tour offers a solution for you. Instead of a group tour in a bus with around 20-60 people, why not ride to Pearl Harbor and then go on the Circle Island tour in a clean, comfortable, air-conditioned minivan that will privately take you on the tour? Our professional chauffeur will take you to Pearl Harbor. Once you have arrived at the Pearl Harbor Visitor’s Center, our chauffeur will take you inside and give you an orientation.

The Pearl Harbor Visitor Center and Oahu Circle Island Tour is a full-day tour (about 7 hours). This tour departs from Waikiki Beach hotels. This tour is for people who want to take in the various sights around the Island of Oahu. See many important places on Oahu, including Pearl Harbor, Hawaii’s number one most visited location. The Pearl Harbor Visitor’s Center is home to two museums, “Road to War ” and “Attack”. These museums will provide you with background information regarding the events that led to the attack on Pearl Harbor, as well as details about the attack itself. Take some time to stroll through Bowfin park and check out its various outdoor displays, such as the Japanese Kaiten suicide torpedo. While at Pearl Harbor, remember to peruse the Pearl Harbor gift shop for souvenirs. As this tour is primarily for those who just want to see Pearl Harbor, NO tickets are included. This tour is the perfect choice for those who want to spend the day taking in the sights that the Island of Oahu has to offer. Stop to view Chinaman’s hat, an Island resembling a Chinese coolie’s hat. Cruise by the famous surfing beaches on Oahu’s North Shore. Stop to view the famous Sunset Beach. Cruise through scenic Haleiwa Town. Stop at the famous Dole Plantation. The Dole Plantation is Hawaii’s second most visited attraction and home of the famous Dole Whip ice cream. On the way back to Waikiki, you will be taken on a short drive-through tour of Downtown Honolulu. You get to see the famous golden statue of Hawaii’s legendary monarch, King Kamehameha the Great. View the famous Iolani Palace, the only Royal Palace on American soil. See the historic Washington Place, the historic home of Hawaii’s Governors. View the unique architecture of the Hawaii State Capitol building. We will also take you on a drive-through of Punchbowl National Memorial Cemetery, the final resting place of many U.S. service members from WWI to the present.

Here Are Some Points Of Interest That You Will See On Your Tour:

Lone Sailor

The statue known as “the Lone Sailor” is a tribute to all personnel in the sea services past, present, and future. This statue was sculpted by Stanley Bleifeld using a real sailor, PO1 Dan Maloney as the model. The initials and last name on the sea bag belong to Rear Admiral William Thompson, the first president of the Navy Memorial Foundation. The foundation raised funds for the creation of the Navy Memorial in Washington, D.C. The bronze used for the original sculpture is said to have had several historical artifacts added to it during the smelting process.

Kaiten

A long black torpedo-like device is located in Bowfin Park outside of the Submarine Museum. This device is called a Kaiten. The Kaiten is a one-man suicide torpedo. Late in the war, the Imperial Japanese Navy knew they were losing and that the United States was inching ever closer to Japan. Like the well-known Kamikaze pilots, The operators of the Kaiten go on a one-way mission, in effect becoming a guided torpedo. They were meant to be launched from the backs of ships or the decks of submarines. Approximately 420 Kaiten were built, with three ships confirmed to be sunk.

Iolani Palace

Iolani Palace was constructed in 1882 under the order of King David Kalakaua. By 1887, Iolani Palace had been furnished with electricity and a phone line. The palace served as the official residence of the Kings and Queens of the Kingdom of Hawaii until the last monarch, Queen Liliuokalani, was overthrown in 1891. The building then served as the capital building of Hawaii until 1969. Iolani Palace has since been restored and is accessible to the public with reservations.

Surfing

The sport we know as surfing has its origins in ancient Hawaii. For the ancient Hawaiians, this was more than just a sport and had spiritual connections. The most skilled surfers tended to be the chiefs. Europeans were first introduced to surfing when Captain Cook arrived in the Islands. Today surfing is a sport beloved by people the world over. While there are many popular surfing spots worldwide, the most famous are in Hawaii. The North Shore of Oahu is a mecca for surfers everywhere who come for the chance to ride the waves at places like Sunset Beach or the famous “Banzai Pipeline.” Several surfing competitions are held on Oahu’s North Shore annually.
