Tour Highlights

Tour Description

No trip to Oahu Island would be complete without a visit to the Pearl Harbor, the most visited tourist attraction in Hawaii. Unlike bus tours with groups of 50-60 people, this is a small group tour of only eleven people in a well-appointed, new model van that takes you directly to Pearl Harbor. We have reserved Arizona Memorial Ticket for you and it is included for you in this tour (please read our disclaimer about the USS Arizona Memorial ticket). Therefore, you do not need to worry about an Arizona Memorial ticket; because of this, you do not need to go early in the morning (5:30 am) and wait in line behind thousands of other people to see if you can get a ticket for the Arizona Memorial. You have time to explore Pearl Harbor Visitor Center and Pearl Harbor Gift Shop. This tour is about 7 to 8 hours including transfers. This tour also includes tickets to the battleship USS Missouri. One of the most powerful ships ever constructed, the Iowa-Class Battleship served with distinction during WWII and beyond. This Pearl Harbor Tour operates only from Waikiki Beach. Those staying on any other part of the Island will need to come to the Waikiki Beach area for pick up.

This is one of our most popular Pearl Harbor tours. This tour takes you to Pearl Harbor, one of the main historical landmarks in Hawaii. The USS Arizona Memorial is the most visited tourist destination in Hawaii. More than just an important historical monument, the Arizona Memorial is also the resting place for many American heroes who lost their lives during the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941. This tour is the perfect choice for those who want to see the Arizona Memorial and the “Mighty MO”, the Iowa-class Battleship Missouri, a decorated ship that was the scene of the final Japanese surrender at the end of WWII. Board the battleship and take the 30-minute guided deck tour and see the instruments of surrender signed by the Japanese, signifying the end of the war. On the way back to Waikiki, you will be taken on a short drive-through tour of Historical Downtown Honolulu. You get to see the famous golden statue of Hawaii’s legendary monarch, King Kamehameha the Great. View the famous Iolani Palace, the only Royal Palace on American soil. See Washington Place, the historic home of Hawaii’s Governors. View the unique architecture of the Hawaii State Capitol building. We will also take you on a drive-through of Punchbowl National Memorial Cemetery, the final resting place of many U.S. service members from WWI to the present.

Here are some points of Interest that you will see on your tour:

Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz

Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz was the Commander in Chief of the Pacific Fleet during WWII. He succeeded Admiral Husband E. Kimmel after the attack on Pearl Harbor. With Admiral Nimitz in command, the US Navy ultimately gained victory over the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Pacific War. Fleet Admiral Nimitz helped to devise the Island hopping campaign against the Japanese. This campaign took the fleet through Japanese-held territory, attacking and capturing only the most strategically important one and bypassing the rest.

Unconditional Surrender

The statue of a sailor kissing woman is an art piece called “Unconditional Surrender.” First installed in Sarasota, Florida, and later moved to other locations. Several copies were installed, such as the one located on Ford Island at Pearl Harbor. The statue was cast by the artist Seward Johnson, who used computer technology to create a 3-D master from a 2-D photograph. The resulting master was used to cast the statue in bronze. The sculpture is based on an iconic photo taken by Victor Jorgenson of a sailor kissing a woman upon the announcement of V-J Day, signifying the end of WWII.

USS Missouri

The USS Missouri (BB-63) was commissioned on June 11, 1944. This Iowa-Class fast battleship displaced over 58,000 tons and was 887 feet long. Armed with nine massive Mk7 16-inch 50 caliber naval rifles, armor between 12 and 19 inches thick, and a speed over 32 knots, the USS Missouri and her sisters were among the most powerful battleships ever constructed. She served in the latter part of WWII and was the site of the surrender ceremony in Tokyo Bay at the end of the war. She was reactivated and modernized in the 1980s and outfitted with modern sensors and weapons.

USS Oklahoma

The USS Oklahoma (B-37) was a Nevada-Class battleship commissioned on May 2, 1916. She was at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. During the Japanese attack, she received up to 8 torpedo hits. She capsized, almost rolling completely over. This trapped many of her crew who were below decks underwater. A desperate rescue operation was launched to save as many of her crew as possible. In all, 429 officers and enlisted men out of a crew of 1,398 died in the attack. Her losses comprise the second-largest loss of life in the attack after 1,177 were killed when the USS Arizona exploded.
